I'm gearing up to head to Vegas here in just a few days, so of course I have been planning outfits in my head for a while now. You know, lots of turquoise, layered Navajo Pearls, my one and only statement cuff, and a lot of unique Blush Out West pieces. I love this time of year, getting dressed up fancy, going out, watching the rodeo (even if it's only in the hotels & casinos), and of course, all the shopping. The NFR is a big deal, gals, not only for the cowboys & cowgirls competing for the buckles, but for the attendees too!
I have a few statement pieces that I believe can make any outfit. I wear them with just about anything, and always feel complete when I do. One being my statement cuff. Truly the best investment I've ever made. Yes, I know they are pricy, but think of all the outfits you can complete, as well as handing it down one day. In case you are searching for the perfect cuff and just haven't found it yet, this one may be your answer.
In addition to a cuff, I believe in "more the better". Girl, layer those necklaces, wear all the Navajo Pearls, and bring out your Squash Blossom necklace that you've been waiting all year to wear. NFR is just the perfect time for me to do that. I invested in an old vintage Squash Blossom necklace, that was made well before they started stamping silver. I love the look of it, and knew I had to have it when I saw it. However, Blush just got this one in that has me swooning. Earrings are a must. For real, I forgot to put earrings in one time before I left the house and I felt naked. You can always catch me with a pair of gorgeous turquoise earrings, that are of course, always Blush. I'm also bringing the classic bar necklace, which we have sold hundreds of. Just a simple, dainty piece. So yes, you better believe I will be decked out in jewelry all day, everyday. Like I said, it completes any look.
Now lets get into what you all care about, the clothes. Rust, rust and more rust. Kidding. Well, not really. As you should know by now, rust is my favorite color, and I will wear it all year long. Literally, my entire wardrobe consists of snake print, leopard, Navajo prints, and rust. This year I am packing semi- comfortable day-time looks including the following:
- Leopard Embossed Top with Ruffles (I plan on wearing this with skinny denim jeans, along with my Old Gringo boots. I'll talk boot details here in a sec. Throw on a big silver belt and you're good to go!)
- Double D Cowboy Tee (I love just about everything Double D, they have so many pieces that can be dressed up, worn with a tall pair of boots and a fun belt.)
- Snake Print Blouse (I will be pairing a Blush Out West best-seller, snake print top with trouser jeans. One of my favorite combos is a loose, flowy top with trousers and snip toe boots. I'm sure I'll be layering this look with a wild rag or camo jacket.)
- Denim Pin Tuck Button Down (Another Blush staple, that so many of our customers love. I do love denim on denim, so that would be a good option. However, I think I'll be pairing this top with a fringe skirt, or corduroy skirt. Hey, I'm in Vegas, I might as well.)
- Rust Velvet Blazer (This is a piece that can transition into a night look with just a quick change! I will be pairing it with a graphic tee and distressed boyfriend jeans for a more casual day-time look.)
This is my fourth year going to the NFR, so I've learned that comfort during the day comes first. I'm always that girl that's like "I'll wear heels, my feet won't hurt", and last year, seriously, my friend was prying the boots off my feet because I was just about in tears. I was stopping at every vendor who had a chair, so this year I'm aiming for a little more comfort. So comfort, but fashionable, is what I'm striving for this year. As far as shoes, I always take too many. I've literally packed two suitcases, one that is just filled with shoes. I'll be bringing two pairs of my Old Gringo Mayra boots, one black and one brown (Which in fact I never pay full price for, I found both pairs for a steal on Ebay). Next, I'm bringing a cute pair of leopard hair on hide tennis. These will be my comfy shoes. My Liberty Black Peep Toe Boots are also a must. I believe there is one pair left on the website, so if you're a size 7 go snag them. They are truly one of my most worn boots, and the rich chocolate color allows them to go with everything. To top it off, they are comfy!
Next, stop what you're doing and go follow No Roots Boots on IG. I have been loving her vibe lately. She's a fellow boutique owner, with the cutest little traveling trailer she takes to shows. She has quite a few pairs of boots that are on my list, however the Gold Old Gringos {The Shay} have become one of my favorite boots I own. And if you know me, that's saying a lot. And the best part? It looks like she still has several sizes in stock! I plan on bringing snake print boots, as well as a neutral pair to throw together when I get to Vegas.
Night vibes include all my same jewelry listed above, as well as shoes. I'll make it all work for different outfits, that's the beautiful of silver pieces, right? Navajo Pearls can be layered at all different lengths, and of course I'll be rocking my statement cuff with every look. However I will change up my vibe a little bit. Maybe a more dramatic lip color, classy jumpsuits, velvet.... You get the drift. Here's my "Night Out on the Town" outfits:
- Silky Rust Jumpsuit (One of my favorite Blush pieces to date. This one was restocked several times, we had a hard time keeping it in stock! Such a classy look with the button down detailing, ruffle sleeves, and obviously a great color.)
- Satin Snake Print Bomber Jacket (I love all things snake, okay well not real snakes. But, this one is such a fun and sexy look! I love the satin material, making this a fancy vibe. I'll be pairing with black pants, black velvet tank and some tall boots!)
- Tan Fur Coat (Another Blush piece, go figure! The tan and neutral color of this one is easy to pair with anything. I may even throw this over a day-time look!)
- Metallic Star Sweater (Okay, who knows what I'm talking about? That super pretty, rose gold star sweater from our NFR Product Drop? Yeah, I added that to my closet before I opened the package and I'm debuting it this weekend with black flares.)
Let's talk bags. Another thing I always bring too many of. I'm bringing my Louis Vuitton that I just love, from Classic Boho Bags. You can find her on IG. I can seriously cram so much stuff in there, it's not even funny. This is a great travel bag, so I'm always bringing it on the airplane with me. It will also make for a great shopping bag because I can carry so much in it. Next, I'll be bringing a tooled clutch. Patricia Nash is one of my favorite brands for handbags. I love tooled leather, so obviously I love everything she has. I'll also be bringing an acid washed, hair-on-hide handbag from Blush, which just so happens to be perfect for the NFR. It can be used as a clutch, but also comes with a cross body strap. For nights out on the town I will be carrying a snake print clutch. So yeah, clearly I have an overpacking problem.
On top of all my fancy outfits, I have a few pairs of leggings and sweats for that late night Shake Shack run. After a long day of shopping we normally like to relax in our room for a little before we head out again. We've enjoyed just walking the strip, people watching on Fremont Street, we've done comedy shows, watched the rodeo from all sorts of hotels and casinos, and we love to eat, eat and eat. Actually eating is probably my favorite part. We love the New York New York because of all the food choices, with our favorite being the Mexican joint. Hey, if you're in Vegas this week and want to meet up for a little happy hour, we're down!
Lastly, lets talk hats. Okay, I LOVE hats. I'm a lover of Charlie 1 Horse, so of course I'm taking my Silverbelly, as well as my new leopard find I picked up on Black Friday from The Barn Door Boutique. I believe she may have a few more on her website and they are half off! A hat can complete any look, and I usually just throw it on before I head out.
While the fashion is fun, that's not what it's all about. Sometimes I have to remind myself that we are here to have fun, support the athletes that have made it this far and enjoy the experiences with our friends and family! I can't wait to see familiar faces and meet new ones. I'm looking forward to shopping and meeting brands that I have drooled over all year long on social media. I'm looking forward to a mini-vacay with my friend and my guy.
Xoxo, Wren
